I M Pei 玩耍伊斯蘭

austerity and simplicity

　　“a severe architecture that comes to life in the sun, with its shadows and shades of colour.” －－　I M Pei

　　老當益壯的貝律銘，揭示了他對中亞文化的現代觀。幾何堆疊出來的mass，在形式上轉譯出伊斯蘭傳統的建築觀﹔類似以一種後現代觀去表顯建築物的價值。那裡所圍塑出的氛圍，如同我行走在Aya Sofia的氣度；Light and shadow成為虛空間的主角，人們流動於Public space，帶一點些許的莊嚴的敬畏。
　　Doha, QATR的伊斯蘭教美術館裡，不外乎看到那利落的線條所成就出的空間﹔不過我在這一個美術館本體中，還沒有看到人在空間裡群聚性的擬結，倒是新時代的轉譯方式，讓我嗅到中東所累積出來的美學觀。那簡化出來的空間感，不吝惜於副加上繁瑣的裝飾，來繼續提煉那歷史的萃取物﹔那倒置的時空，好似奧斯曼大帝君臨於此，又如同the fall 裡的超現實影像，重複交疊在現實之中，詭異地在那一邊蜷伏著。

魔戒現身Dubai/ Nakheel Harbour & Tower by Woods Bagot in Dubai

Another Iconic Buliding set on Dubai.

It was awsome scale buliding as "the lord of ring", which is unveilied by Architects Woods Bagot this weekend in Dubai. It would be the tallest buliding and a part of a development aslo includes " the world first inner city harbur". Alothough it's inspired by islamic culture, but it looks something to attack the urban scale again. Why the people are always constructing the buliding which is goin' to grasp the sky. Maybe we can set up some local garthering spot as public space to define the new meaning of space in urban frabic.
someone says " the only way in is out", trying to think another way to make people meeting freely instead of limited.

邁向人群the scottish pavilion at the venice architecture biennale 08

當人聚在一起。一個連接活動的installation，串起事件發生的集合地。

這是蘇格蘭第一次舉辦國家館的設置在威尼斯，回應的主題是" a garthering space"。一個七公呎高單體的敘事方式，讓旅人停下眼光. 駐留，來欣賞另一種美在威尼斯。這個木結構的量體，不無小噓地切開兩股流動的力量﹔人群的活動性被硬生生限制在一定的範圍，親近河面的連續性不見了。人不單只有了欣賞停駐，或許另一種態度去享受情境﹔如只一來，建築物不再是 closed form，它會是開放的活動行為。

就如同寫一段故事一樣的情景，想像你再西班牙巴塞隆納開著車往海邊﹔從"到"海邊，這一段情境是經由一各大尺度的都市，進入中型尺度的公園穿越，然後再堤防的地下室停車，再換一個衣服漫步到海邊準備衝浪．它是有一股充滿驚奇的舒適感，海與城市的連續性．

Recycled toy furniture by Greg Lynn

Venice Architecture Biennale 2008 has released the best installation project
"Hotel Polonia", which is made from Greg Lynn.

The jury found Greg Lynn’s experimental recycled-toys furniture to best embody the Biennale theme of Out There: Architecture Beyond building. The jury took interest in those projects in which experimentation took on the character of research, and thus to redirect the naïve ambition to achieve a novel solution to a difficult problem in a single daring leap toward increasing the body of knowledge and technique that the entire field can continue to develop. Though remaining at the level of a provocation rather than a prototype, the recycled-toy furniture advances the digital-form problem to a new level that intrinsically engages traditional architectural concerns such as meaning, aesthetics, and advancing fabrication technology with the recycling, an issue of broad, immediate and pressing concern.

演譯空間 the changing room

UN studio 擅長於編織空間的敘事性
在今年威尼斯雙年展一如往常的使出他們的技法 folding 來闡述空間的美
他們認為建築如同服裝一般提供它自身的個性和時代性主題如同 "out there: architecture beyond buliding"
這一項installation 是去試驗材料的可及性另一方面去探討裡與外部空間的連續性
空間的體驗是用physial去感知行走如同地景一般的裝置
這一次展期4 September - 23 November.
